Professor Graham Miller is Professor of Sustainable Business at Nova School of Business and Economics, Lisbon. Prof. Miller was previously Pro-Vice-Chancellor for the University of Surrey, with pan-University responsibility for employability and sustainability. Until 2022 Professor Miller was also Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and a member of the Executive Board of the University.
Graham is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and holds a Chair in Sustainability in Business. He is a strong proponent of the importance of social sciences and has won over £6.5m in research funding from research councils, government and industry. Graham is a keen advocate of innovation and is chair of the Considerate Group, a company formed to promote sustainable practice in the hotel industry through the analysis of energy and water usage data. Graham is the former co-editor of the Journal of Sustainable Tourism (IF=7.968), the leading academic journal dedicated to research around promoting sustainability of the tourism industry, and sustainability through the tourism industry. From 2014-2019 Graham was the lead judge for the World Travel and Tourism Council’s Tourism for Tomorrow Awards. These global awards recognised the best examples of sustainability in the Travel and Tourism industry. Graham was also an appointed member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council for the Future of Travel and Tourism. This group seeks to provide imaginative and bold solutions to the global challenges facing society, and in particular, how travel and tourism intersect with these challenges.
