Ayael Alqarni is a Specialist at the Saudi Ministry of Energy, under the Deputyship for Sustainability and Climate Change. She follows climate topics in the United National Framework Climate Change Convention (UNFCCC), the Group of Twenty (G20), and the Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC). Prior to her current role, she was a Research Fellow at the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies (KFCRIS), during which her major work contributed to the publications at the Center. She holds a Master’s degree in Security Policy Studies from the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations from Carleton University, Canada. During her Master’s period, Ayael worked at the Middle East Institute (MEI) as a Research Assistant in the Cyber Program, she also served on the Executive Board Committee of the Elliott Graduate Student Forum, which represented the graduate student body at all relevant academic, professional, and social events.
